Farm to Table

The relationship between our food, where it’s grown and how it’s prepared and an individual’s holistic health is a key component of the Shala. We use the highest quality of resources at all time and infuse them with our love and presence. Ayurveda, the Science of Longevity serves as the guiding principle for all of our meal preparations.

The kitchen is overseen by CYS co-owner, Matt Krepps. Matt trained as a chef in Austin and has incorporated his knowledge of Ayurveda into the preparation of meals. He has trained multiple chefs for the Shala through kitchen apprenticeships. We are fortunate to have a revolving order of cooks for our offerings throughout each year.

You can enjoy recipes from home with our Shala Cookbook: Cooking with Heart.

WWOOF

CYS is an approved farm with the World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms Organization: www.wwoofusa.org

The property consists of approximately 1/2 acre of organic vegetable, flower and herb gardens, an orchard, and chickens and horses.

WWOOFers have access to yoga classes and philosophy discussions as available, if desired.

The property is connected to a water source provided by the rural water company; however, we collect our cooking and drinking water from a spring that is prolific, pure and does not need filtering.

For info about opportunities at the Shala, join WWOOF-USA to inquire.
